Mikutta — Workshop Epoxy Coating

ServiceRoller-Applied Epoxy Coating & PU TopcoatLocationAdelaide, SA

Mikutta is a heavy vehicle, truck body, and crash repair workshop operating out of Adelaide. When they needed a new floor system for their workshop, they came to Floortek directly — no head contractor, just a specification that needed to work in a vehicle servicing environment.

Workshop floors take a particular kind of punishment: vehicle traffic, hydraulic lifts, oil, fuel, and chemical spills, and the constant foot traffic of a trade environment. A standard thin-film coating won’t last. The system specified here was built to handle it.

Scope of Works

  • Surface preparation — diamond grinding to correct CSP, vacuumed and inspected before coating
  • Roller-applied epoxy system — multi-coat epoxy coating applied by roller throughout the workshop floor, providing a durable, chemical-resistant base
  • Polyurethane UV-stable topcoat — a PU topcoat applied over the epoxy to protect the system from UV degradation and provide a longer-lasting, cleanable surface finish

The PU topcoat is the critical finishing layer in a workshop environment — it resists yellowing under UV exposure and provides a harder wearing surface than epoxy alone, keeping the floor looking commercial-grade long after installation.
