Stratco Research & Development Facility

Client: Stratco (direct) | Service: Epoxy Flooring & Line Marking | Location: Adelaide, South Australia

Floortek was engaged directly by Stratco to complete the epoxy flooring, joint sealing, and line marking package at their Research and Development Facility. Stratco is one of Australia’s leading manufacturers and retailers of steel building products, and the R&D facility is an active working environment used for product testing, prototyping, and engineering analysis.

The flooring system was specified to deliver a high-performance, chemical-resistant, UV-stable finish suited to the demands of an industrial research environment. Floortek recommended and installed a self-levelling epoxy body coat with a polyaspartic UV-stable topcoat — a system that resists yellowing under exposure to natural light while providing excellent durability against mechanical traffic and chemical spills.

Scope of Works

  • Diamond grinding to prepare concrete substrate
  • Self-levelling epoxy resin flooring system installed throughout
  • Polyaspartic UV-stable topcoat for chemical and UV resistance
  • Sealing of all expansion and control joints
  • Full line marking installation including traffic lanes and safety zones

System Selection

Polyaspartic topcoats are specified where UV exposure is a factor. Standard epoxy topcoats yellow and chalk over time when exposed to sunlight — an issue in facilities with skylights or high windows. The polyaspartic system delivers the same mechanical performance as epoxy while remaining stable in colour across the long term. Combined with the self-levelling body coat, the result is a seamless, easy-to-clean floor that supports a safe and efficient working environment.
