RAAF Base Edinburgh — LAND19 Phase 7B

Builder: Sitzler | Client: Department of Defence | Service: Protective Coatings — Epoxy & Polyurethane | Location: RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia | Project Value: $100M+

The LAND19 Phase 7B project at RAAF Base Edinburgh is a major Commonwealth defence infrastructure program delivered by Sitzler for the Department of Defence. The development provides purpose-built facilities to support the Australian Army’s new Short Range Ground Based Air Defence system, encompassing administration buildings, training facilities, workshops, warehousing, and contemporary on-base living accommodation.

Floortek was engaged by Sitzler to supply and install a two-coat protective flooring system across trafficable areas throughout the facility:

  • Epoxy base coat — providing a hard-wearing, chemically resistant foundation layer
  • UV-stable polyurethane topcoat — delivering a durable, non-slip surface finish resistant to UV degradation and suitable for long-term defence facility use

The polyurethane topcoat’s UV stability is particularly important in areas with natural light exposure, preventing the yellowing and breakdown that standard epoxy topcoats are susceptible to over time. The system delivers a high-performance, long-life floor finish that meets the safety and durability requirements of a working defence facility.

Delivering flooring works on a defence base requires strict compliance with site security protocols, induction requirements, and access controls. Floortek’s team managed all site requirements to complete the scope without disruption to the broader construction program.
