Builder: BESIX Watpac | Client: DCI Data Centres | Service: Epoxy Flooring & Concrete Sealing | Location: Kidman Park, South Australia | Project Value: $70 million | Status: Complete
The DCI Data Centre ADL02 in Kidman Park is South Australia’s first Tier 3 commercial data centre — a $70 million investment by DCI Data Centres designed to support the state’s growing defence, space, and high-tech sectors. Delivered by BESIX Watpac under a Design and Construct contract, the facility provides mission-critical infrastructure with the highest levels of security and uptime certification for sensitive ICT workloads.
The project was officially launched by South Australian Premier Steven Marshall and represents a significant milestone in SA’s ambition to become a national digital infrastructure hub alongside its established defence industrial complex.
Floortek was engaged by BESIX Watpac to complete two flooring scopes across the facility:
- Anti-slip epoxy floor coatings — installed throughout the data centre, providing a durable, cleanable, non-slip surface appropriate for a Tier 3 mission-critical environment
- Dust-proofing penetrating sealer — applied to all exposed concrete areas to eliminate concrete dust, which poses a significant contamination risk to sensitive data centre equipment
Concrete dust control is a critical requirement in data centre construction — unsealed concrete generates fine particulate that can damage servers, storage, and networking equipment. Floortek’s penetrating sealer treatment addressed this risk across all exposed concrete surfaces, ensuring the clean-build requirements of the facility were met prior to equipment installation and commissioning.
