CHEP Direk Service Centre

The CHEP Direk Service Centre is a $31 million, 12,000m² purpose-built industrial logistics facility developed by Gibb Group for global supply chain leader CHEP. Officially opened by South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas in September 2023, the facility combines two existing CHEP sites into one state-of-the-art operation — capable of repairing approximately four million pallets and washing six million bins and containers annually. The facility features cutting-edge repair and automation technology including nail rollers and digital quality checkers, alongside a 250kW rooftop solar system and rainwater harvesting.

Floortek was engaged by Lanskey Constructions to install a heavy-duty impact-resistant non-slip epoxy coating system throughout the manufacturing facility. Industrial pallet repair and logistics operations place extreme demands on flooring — constant forklift traffic, heavy pallet drop impact loads, and abrasion from automated equipment require a system engineered well beyond standard commercial epoxy specifications.

Impact-resistant epoxy systems use higher build thicknesses and specialist aggregate profiles compared to standard epoxy coatings — they are designed to absorb and distribute point loads from dropped pallets and forklift tines without cracking or delaminating. The result is a floor that holds up under the continuous operational demands of a 24-hour logistics facility.
